The Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) was established in 1980 to represent the interests of the growing number of independent breweries in Britain, a growth which has continued to this day, with the not-for-profit trade association now representing over 870 independent craft breweries across the UK.

There has never been a better time to be a beer drinker in the UK, with more fantastic tasting beer styles being brewed than ever before by a growing number of talented, innovative brewers. However this growth in the independent beer market has not gone unnoticed by the global beer brands, who have begun to buyout previously independent craft breweries, or release their own products marketed as craft.

It's because of this that SIBA launched the 'Assured Independent British Craft Brewer' campaign, to make it easier for beer drinkers to identify beers from truly independent craft brewers.

The Assured Independent British Craft Brewer seal can only be used by a brewery which:

  • Is a brewing member of SIBA and brews quality beer as outlined in SIBA's Handbook.

  • Is a truly independent brewer who is a sole trader, a partnership, a limited company or a public company but is not a subsidiary of a larger firm with attendant or other subsidiary brewing interests.

Written by experienced food safety experts, SALSA (Safe And Local Supplier Approval) is a robust and effective food safety certification scheme which is appropriate for smaller food and beer producers and suppliers.

Approved  can demonstrate that they operate to standards that are recognised and accepted across the industry and exceed the minimum standards expected by enforcement authorities.

SALSA approval is only granted to suppliers who are able to demonstrate to an auditor that they are able to produce and supply safe and legal food and are committed to continually meeting the requirements of the SALSA standard.

Since 1997 Cask Marque has been ensuring that the cask ale you drink in pubs in the UK has been in perfect condition. Qualified assessors make over 20,000 visits to pubs each year in England, Scotland, and Wales to check the temperature, appearance, aroma and taste of Britain’s favourite drink.

Lincoln Green Brewing Company is a proud supporter of Cask Marque. We support our pubs and customers by sponsoring them to try and gain Cask Marque Accreditation. Should a pub fail an inspection, we will provide advice on how to remedy the problem.
